Keeneland expands multimedia coverage for September sale

Posted: Friday, September 03, 2010 1:58 PM

Keeneland Association will offer increased coverage of its 2010 September yearling sale via broadcast, social, web, and print media.

Keeneland Broadcast Services and HorseRacing TV (HRTV) will partner to provide live coverage of the opening two evening sessions of the sale, September 12-13, beginning at 7 p.m. EDT each night. The sale runs September 12-26.

During the evening sessions, horsemen and fans can also follow the sale via www.keeneland.com and social media outlets as Keeneland expands its coverage to offer live streaming on Facebook coupled with updates and video links on Twitter.

Another new feature this September will be sales barn notes, which Keeneland will issue daily from September 10-17 and post on its social media sites.

As usual, Keeneland will stream the entire 14-day sale on www.keeneland.com. Jill Byrne and Caton Bredar will track all the action of the opening nights for HRTV—breaking news as top horses sell, previewing prominent hips, interviewing buyers and consignors, analyzing the market with industry experts, and offering color commentary.

Coverage will be up-linked both days through Roberts Communications Network and available on Kentucky racetrack decoders. RCN commercial locations interested in receiving the broadcast should call (702)227-7590, option 2.

HRTV also will air Keeneland’s 2010 September Sale Preview Show, a 30-minute program featuring several outstanding sale prospects, on Saturday, September 4 at 9:30 p.m. The show will be re-broadcast on September 5 at midnight, 7 a.m. and noon. For additional airings of the Preview Show, check www.hrtv.com for dates and times.

Keeneland has cataloged 4,857 yearlings for the sale. Catalogs are available at www.keeneland.com.

The article is very informative. I have a few comments on the HRTV show of last evening.
1. You should show the hip being sold, not the talking hosts of the show. Football games are shown continuously, while the comentators are off screen, and there comments a heard.
2. Don't go to commercial when the sale topper is being sold.
