Night Shift mares bring highest prices at Goffs sale

Stakes winner Bon Nuit sold on Saturday for $340,744 (230,000 euros), the highest price during the opening session of the Goffs November mare sale.
The mare sale directly followed excellent trade at Goffs’ four-day foal sale, which concluded on Friday and saw total sales increase 5% compared with last year's five-day sale, while average was up 11% and median increased by an eye-opening 30%.
Bon Nuit was offered in foal to leading sire Pivotal. The seven-year-old by Night Shift out of the unraced Priolo mare Pray, was purchased by Clive Gardner. She was part of a supplementary consignment from Ballincurrig House Stud, which offered her on behalf of owner Howard Spooner.
A 2005 stakes winner in England and career earner of $115,740, Bon Nuit is a half sister to stakes-placed winner In A Silent Way and has a weanling colt by Dylan Thomas (Ire). Her dam is a half sister to multiple graded stakes winner Anshan (GB).
Goffs reported 147 of 192 horses offered on Saturday as sold for total receipts of $5,865,106 (3,958,900 euros). Average price was $39,898 (26,931 euros) and median price was $25,185 (17,000 euros).
The day’s second-highest price was winner Comeraincomeshine, an eight-year-old Night Shift mare who was bought by Newsells Park Stud for $237,039 (160,000 euros).
Consigned by Roundhill Stud, Comeraincomeshine is the dam of multiple group-placed stakes winner Danehill Destiny, by Danehill Dancer.
A half sister to Group 1 winner Where Or When, the chestnut mare has an unraced two-year-old filly by Kyllachy and a yearling colt by Galileo (Ire). She was sold in foal to Duke of Marmalade (Ire).
The two-day sale continues on Sunday in County Kildare, Ireland.
