Goffs November mare sale set for this weekend

Posted: Friday, November 20, 2009 3:25 PM

There are more than 500 horses consigned for the Goffs November mare sale, which is set for Saturday and Sunday in County Kildare, Ireland.

The catalog includes consignments from the Aga Khan Studs, Darley, Derrinstown Stud, Abbeville and Meadow Court Studs, and Tinnakill House.

Mares will be offered in foal to stallions such as Authorized, Cape Cross (Ire), Dalakhani, Danehill Dancer, Dubawi, Dylan Thomas (Ire), Duke of Marmalade (Ire), Excellent Art (GB), Invincible Spirit, Jeremy, Lawman, Manduro, Marju, Montjeu (Ire), Singspiel (Ire), Strategic Prince, and Teofilo.

Among those cataloged are a full sister to 1998 Moyglare Stud Stakes (Ire-G1) winner Edabiya Ire) in foal to Dylan Thomas, a half sister to 2006 Irish St. Leger (Ire-G1) winner Kastoria (Ire), a full sister to Elusive Quality in foal to Invincible Spirit, and a Selkirk half sister to European champion and 2000 Breeders’ Cup Turf winner Kalanisi (Ire).

Also cataloged are a stakes-producing Night Shift mare in foal to Duke of Marmalade; 2001 Oaks d’Italia (Ity-G1) runner-up Rosa di Brema, who is  in foal to Shamardal; the dam of multiple group winner Naheef; and a stakes-winning daughter of Galileo (Ire).

Mares purchased at the Goffs mare sale consistently produce winners all over the globe. In 2009, there have been stakes winners in Ireland, Great Britain, the U.S., Scandinavia, Italy, Germany, Spain and France, including Darley Prix Morny (Fr-G1) winner Arcano, whose dam was purchased at the Goffs mare sale for 140,000 euros. Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris (Fr-G1) winner Cavalryman is out of a 35,000-euro Goffs November mare.

"As with all Goffs sales, the focus was on quality when compiling the November breeding stock catalog and we are delighted that vendors have supported us and produced a catalog that is an excellent representation of the best of Irish bloodlines,” Goffs Chairman Henry Beeby said.

“The international appeal of this sale is well documented, in particular with our loyal Indian buyers, and together with Irish Thoroughbred Marketing we look forward to welcoming a broad range of overseas visitors to Goffs for the sale.”
