Woodford Thoroughbreds launches sales consignment

Woodford Thoroughbreds will offer its first consignment at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July sale of selected yearlings on July 20-21, according to general manager Matt Lyons.

“We have a beautiful group of horses to offer this year, and we will be presenting them at all the major sales,” said Lyons. “We will have horses at Fasig-Tipton July, Fasig Saratoga, and Keeneland September.”

The Kentucky-based operation will consign primarily homebreds. Woodford Thoroughbreds is owned by former CloverLeaf II head John Sykes and Tony Ferguson of Tampa Bay, Florida.

Woodford’s broodmare band includes Broodmare of the Year Turko’s Turn, champion filly Xtra Heat, and the dams of Grade I winner Kodiak Kowboy and. champion filly Banshee Breeze

The farm also is home to Grade I winners Set Play, Celtic Melody, and La Gueriere, multiple Grade II winner Bsharpsonata, and the dams of Grade I winners Harmony Lodge, Tout Charmant, Military, and 2008 Breeders Cup Turf Sprint Winner Desert Code.
