Arqana releases August yearling catalog

Arqana has released the catalog for its Deauville August yearling sale, and the 502 entries include a sale record 121 siblings to Group performers.

The catalog for the August 14-17 sale is available here. Fifty-nine vendors have entered horses in the boutique auction..

Horses bred and raised in France are eligible for a substantial owners’ awards program that totaled $50.44-million ($35.88-million Euros) in 2008. The awards are paid out for wins and places. They amount to purse bonuses of 75% for juveniles, 63% for three-year-olds, and 48% for older horses.

Arqana graduates making news at the track this year include Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby-G1) winner Le Havre, Poule D’Essai des Poulains (French Two Thousand Guineas-G1) winner, and Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Derby winner Collection.

In addition to the top European sires, American stallions represented in the Arqana August catalog are Aldebaran, Arch, Awesome Again, Cherokee Run, Consolidator, Distorted Humor, Elusive Quality, Forestry, Ghostzapper, Giant’s Causeway, Gone West, Grand Slam, Gulch, Hennessy, Johannesburg, Langfuhr, Lemon Drop Kid, Maria’s Mon, Medaglia d’Oro, Mineshaft, More Than Ready, Mr. Greeley, Rahy, Seeking the Gold, Smart Strike, Storm Cat, Tale of the Cat, Vindication, War Chant, and War Front.
