Trio of Group 1 winners cataloged for Tattersalls December sale
Three Group 1-winning fillies are among 981 horses cataloged for the Tattersalls Ltd. December breeding stock sale, which is set for November 30 through December 3 in Newmarket.
The trio consists of Eva’s Request, by Soviet Star, winner of the 2009 Premio Lydia Tesio (Ity-G1) on October 25; Lahaleeb (Ire), by Redback; winner of the E. P. Taylor Stakes (Can-G1) on October 17 at Woodbine; and Lush Lashes, by Galileo (Ire), who captured the 2008 Coronation Stakes (Eng-G1), Darley Yorkshire Oaks (Eng-G1), and Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes (Ire-G1).
The catalog also includes broodmares in foal to all of the current top 20 active sires in Great Britain and Ireland, including Cape Cross (Ire), Dalakhani, Danehill Dancer, Dansili (GB), High Chaparral (Ire), Montjeu (Ire), Oasis Dream (GB), and Pivotal as well as the only mare in foal to European champion and leading sire Galileo to be offered in Europe this year.
Sires who covered their first mare in 2009 are also well represented, with mares in foal to classic and Group 1 winners Duke of Marmalade (Ire), Henrythenavigator, New Approach, Ramonti, Sakhee’s Secret, Sixties Icon (GB), and Tamayuz as well as Mount Nelson (GB), whose dam will be offered in foal to 2008 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner Raven’s Pass.
“The December mares sale is the culmination of the two-week Tattersalls December sale and in many ways the climax of the European sales season,” Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said. “It is a quality catalog which looks set to attract the customary global cast of buyers who make the sale such a unique event in the sales calendar. Mares purchased at past Tattersalls December sales have won classic and Group 1 races on every continent in the world in 2009, and it is this sort of success year after year that makes the sale the premier fixture of its type in Europe.”
