Johannesburg colt tops Minnesota sale

Seventeen of the 27 horses offered at the Minnesota Thoroughbred Association’s upper Midwest two-year-old in training sale sold for total receipts of $265,900.

Carolyn Friedberg purchased the sale topper, paying $40,000 for Joubert’s Gold. A half brother to Grade 3 winners Smart Coupons and Theresa the Teacha, the Johannesburg colt out of multiple stakes winner Proud n’ Appeal, by Proud Appeal, was consigned by Old School Thoroughbreds, agent for Terri Baze. 

Average price was $11,079. Median was $13,000.
