Exceed and Excel colt tops sixth session at Magic Millions

Alan J. Acton paid $191,772 ($210,000 Australian) for an Exceed and Excel colt, the session topper on day six of the Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions yearling sale on Australia’s Gold Coast on Monday.

The colt is the second foal out of the Entrepreneur mare Yum Yum, a half sister to Group 2 winner Dreamworks. Woodlands Stud, agent, consigned the session topper.

Exceed and Excel, Australia’s champion sprinter in 2004 and a multiple Group 1 winner by Danehill, currently is Australia’s leading freshman sire.

Combined total receipts for sessions five and six were a record $10,055,705 ($11,011,500 Australian). Average price during sessions five and six was $28,410 ($31,108 Australian). The buy-back rate was 19.5%.

Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said he was pleased with the activity for the latter sessions of the sale.

“We're delighted with the number of buyers at the sale—particularly the number of international buyers,” Chester said. “Today, we had buyers from Singapore, New Zealand, Korea, Macau, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and the United States.”

The eight-session sale continues Tuesday and Wednesday.
