A Lion Heart colt turned in the fastest quarter-mile workout and ten horses tied for the fastest one-furlong move at the first under-tack show for the 2008 Barretts Equine Ltd. March sale of two-year-olds in training.
Monday’s breeze show at Fairplex Park was the first of two for the Barretts March Sale, which will be held on March 12 at 2 p.m. PDT at Hinds Pavilion in Pomona, California. The second under-tack show is slated for March 10 at 10 a.m., also at Fairplex Park.
The chestnut Lion Heart colt covered two furlongs in :21.40. Consigned by Murray Smith, agent, the colt is out of the unraced Rahy mare Clever Squaw, a half sister to stakes winner Tricky Six and two graded stakes producers.
A bay Cherokee Run colt, consigned by B.C.3. Thoroughbreds, agent, turned in the fastest three-furlong workout with a clocking of :34.80.
Ten horses tied for the fastest 1/8-mile drill, completing the distance in :10: Kays and Jays, a Macho Uno filly; a Songandaprayer colt; a Salt Lake colt; a Gulch filly; a Cactus Ridge colt; a Seattle Fitz (Arg) colt; a Chapel Royal colt; a Bernstein colt; a Forest Wildcat colt; and an Orientate colt.
