Agnes Tachyon colt tops yearling session of Japan select sale
A half brother to Japanese champion and sire Kurofune was sold on Monday for $2,289,719 to top the yearling session of the Japan Racing Horse Association’s July select sale.
Riichi Kondo purchased the bay Agnes Tachyon colt from the Northern Farm consignment. The colt is out of the stakes-winning Classic Go Go mare Blue Avenue, who in addition to Kurofune, Japan’s champion three-year-old colt of 2001, has produced four other winners, including Bella Belluci, a multiple stakes winner in the United States.
Northern Farm also consigned the session’s highest-priced filly, a bay French Deputy filly, who brought $514,018 from Takaya Shimakawa.
The filly, who is out of the Sunday Silence mare Raffica, is a half sister to Japanese stakes winner Air Pascale, by War Emblem.
The sale continues on Tuesday and Wednesday with weanling sessions.
A total of 336 horses are cataloged, including 37 offspring from the first crop of two-time Japanese Horse of the Year and champion Deep Impact.
Other stallion’s with first-crop offspring at the sale include Aragron (Ire), Bernardini, David Junior, Heart’s Cry, Henny Hughes, and Rule of Law.
