Japan select sale starts Monday

The Japan Racing Association's three-day July select sale will begin on Monday at Northern Horse Park on the island of Hokkaido in Japan.

Yearlings will be sold in the first session, while weanlings will go through the sales ring on the second and third days of the sale.

Among the 163 yearlings cataloged for the sale are foals from the first crop by 2005 Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1) winner Roses in May, '04 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Lucien Barriere (Fr-G1) winner Bago (Fr), and '05 Japan Cup (Jpn-G1) winner Alaased.

The weanling sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, for which 336 horses have been cataloged, will include 37 offspring of two-time Japanese Horse of the Year and champion Deep Impact, a six-year-old Sunday Silence horse. Deep Impact is a graduate of the 2002 JHRA select sale.
