Japanese foal, yearling sales to be held July 9-11

Posted: Tuesday, May 29, 2007 11:07 AM

The Japan Racing Horse Association's select foal and select yearling sales will be held July 9-11 at the Northern Horse Park on the Japanese island of Hokkaido.

Last year, Global Equine Management Co. paid a record $5,217,391 (600-million yen) for a King Kamehameha filly out of the Sunday Silence mare To the Victory, Japan's 2001 champion older mare.

The JRHA has cataloged 157 horses for the yearling sale on July 9 and 329 for the foal auction on July 10-11.

Both catalogs can be viewed here beginning on Wednesday.

Sires represented in the yearling catalog include Empire Maker, Forty Niner, French Deputy, Gone West, Grand Slam, Mr. Greeley, War Emblem, and Silver Charm.

Among the stallions represented in the foal catalog are Arch, Kingmambo, Lion Heart, Maria's Mon, Rock Hard Ten, Roses in May, Sky Mesa, Unbridled's Song, Vindication, Wild Rush, and Yes It's True.
