Fasig-Tipton's Kentucky fall yearling sale begins Monday

More than 1,000 yearlings are cataloged for Fasig-Tipton's Kentucky fall yearling sale, which begins Monday at Newtown Paddocks in Lexington.
The sale maintains its three-day format after being expanded from two days in 2004.
Prominent sires represented include Carson City, Distorted Humor, El Prado (Ire), El Corredor, Elusive Quality, Forestry, Giant's Causeway, Gone West, Hennessy, Mr. Greeley, Royal Academy, Storm Cat, Pulpit, Silver Deputy, Smart Strike, Songandaprayer, and Unbridled's Song.
First-crop stallions with offspring in the sale include Aldebaran, Century City (Ire), Changeintheweather, Crafty C. T., David Copperfield, Decarchy, Desert Warrior, D'wildcat, Easyfromthegitgo, Empire Maker, Essence of Dubai, Flatter, Full Mandate, Griffinite, Harlan's Holiday, Hold That Tiger, Hook and Ladder, Kafwain, Lido Palace (Chi), Macho Uno, Najran, Parker's Storm Cat, Posh, Posse, Proud Citizen, Repent, Say Florida Sandy, Sky Mesa, Sligo Bay (Ire), Smooth Jazz, Sunday Break (Jpn), Vindication, Volponi, Whywhywhy, Wiseman's Ferry, Yankee Gentleman, and Zavata.
Fasig-Tipton reported sales of 610 yearlings from 856 offered last year. Gross receipts climbed 33.4% to $11,099,100, and average price swelled 11.8% to $18,195. Median rose 6.3% to 8,500.
Last year's sale topper was Happy Humor, a colt by Distorted Humor out of Happy Nation, by Lear Fan, purchased for $600,000 by Jess Jackson's Stonestreet Stables from the consignment of James B. Keogh, agent.
This year's sale, which will begin at 10 a.m. EDT each day, will run through Wednesday.
