Pivotal colt tops Tattersalls opening session

Posted: Thursday, November 29, 2001

A colt by second-crop sire and Group 1 winner Pivotal landed a bid of approximately $53,808 (36,000 English guineas) to top the opening session of the Tattersalls Ltd. December foal sale on Tuesday in Newmarket, England. Winterbeck Manor Stud was listed as the buyer of the English-bred colt, who is out of the Majestic Light mare Magical Veil. Consigned by Witney Stud as the property of Witney and Warren Enterprises Ltd., the colt is a half brother to two winners.

Tattersalls reported sales on 48 weanlings during the opening session for a total of $345,345, an average of $7,195.

During the early portion of Thursday's second session, Peter Doyle Bloodstock went to $67,260 to purchase a colt by former Central Kentucky sire Foxhound. Consigned by Whatcote Farm Stud, agent for Nuthurst Farm Stud, the colt is out of the Rambo Dancer mare Dance Steppe, who has already produced stakes winner La Martina (GB).

Complete information on the sale can be found on the Tattersalls Web site at http://www.tattersalls.com
