Out of Place weanling sells for $270,000 at Keeneland on Saturday

Posted: Saturday, November 10, 2001

A weanling full sister to reigning Horse of the Year Tiznow purchased for $950,000 by Godolphin Racing topped the Saturday session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale. The next highest price was $270,000 for a weanling colt by Out of Place, who was acquired by LRF Partnership.

Consigned by Welker Sales Agency, agent, the chestnut colt is the third foal out of stakes winner Inlaw, by Gold Seam. Inlaw is out of Grade 2 winner Yesterday's Kisses and is a half sister to stakes winner Outlaw and to stakes-placed Sawa's Song.

Keeneland reported sales of 232 horses for the session for total receipts of $8,609,400, down 15% from last year's Saturday's session when 258 horses sold for $10,128,400. The average price took a minimal drop to $37,109 from $39,257, and the median fell 15.3% from $29,500 to $25,000.

Denali Stud, consignor of the weanling full brother to Tiznow, led all consignors for the session, bringing in $1,783,000. Taylor Made Sales Agency sold $1,216,200 worth of horses, followed by Bell Farm, which grossed $787,200.

The leading buyer was John Ferguson Bloodstock with his purchase of the session topper. Joss Collins's Blandford Bloodstock spent $294,000 on the day followed by LRF Partnership, which made just the one purchase.
