Danzig season sold for $260,000 at Stallion Access sale

A no-guarantee breeding season to Claiborne Farm stallion Danzig garnered the highest bid of $260,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Stallion Access sale in Lexington on Friday night.
Thirty-eight seasons were sold for a total of $839,000.
Two stallion shares were also sold. A share in Gainesway Farm stallion and 1985 champion turf horse Cozzene was purchased for $85,000, and a share of Lane's End stallion Roar brought $8,000.
By Northern Dancer out of Pas de Nom, by Admiral's Voyage, three-time leading sire Danzig has sired 165 stakes winners and has total progeny earnings of $88,393,574. Four yearlings by Danzig sold at public auction this year and brought an average price of $474,000.
Cozzene stood the 2001 season for $60,000. By Caro (Ire) out of the Prince John mare Ride the Trails, Cozzene was leading sire in 1996 and has total progeny earnings of $50,082,650 from 12 crops of racing age. His 15 yearlings sold at public auction this year fetched an average price of $148,067.
Roar, who stood for $12,500 in 2001, has two crops of racing age and progeny earnings of $1,217,210. By Forty Niner out of the Northern Dancer mare Wild Applause, Roar's 35 yearlings sold this year brought an average price of $28,593.
