Posted: Friday, November 02, 2001
The 11-day Keeneland November breeding stock sale gets underway on Monday with a total of 4,115 horses cataloged. Sessions begin each day at 10:00 a.m. EST.The total consists of 2,094 broodmares or broodmare prospects, 1,887 weanlings, and 134 horses of other ages.
A season to Storm Cat, donated by William T. Young's Overbrook Farm, will be auctioned at the end of the Monday session to benefit the American Red Cross.
"We're seeing many positive signs, including strong interest among both domestic and international buyers," said Geoffrey Russell, director of sales. "We're guardedly optimistic. Obviously, there are some unusual factors this year, but we're ready. The consignors are ready. Hopefully, the buyers will be ready."
Included in the catalog is Cee's Song, dam of two-time Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner Tiznow, and Lost the Code, dam of Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) winner Squirtle Squirt.
Cee's Song is believed to be in foal to Cee's Tizzy and thus carrying a full sibling to Tiznow and Grade 2-winner Budroyale. Consigned by Denali Stud, agent, she will be offered on the second day.
Lost the Code will be presented on the first day and is believed to be in foal to Cat Thief. Her weanling colt by Langfuhr goes in the ring immediately after her. Both are consigned by Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency, agent.
