Mare in foal to late sire Nureyev to be offered at Keeneland
Nuts in May, one of only two mares that were impregnated this spring by 24-year-old international sire Nureyev, who died on Monday at Walmac International in Lexington where he stood at stud, will be offered for sale at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale. Nureyev, the sire of 129 stakes winners, died from complications of a cancerous tumor in his right front foot. His offspring include champions Theatrical (Ire), Miesque, Sonic Lady, Zilzal, and Stately Don and major stakes winners Heart Lake, Spinning World, Peintre Celebre, Soviet Star, Alwuhush, Reams of Verse, and Wolfhound.
Nuts in May, a four-year-old daughter of A.P. Indy, is consigned by Fitzgerald Keogh. She was produced by the Group 1-winning Affirmed mare Regal State and is a half sister to Group 3 winner Hurricane State.
