Machiavellian colt tops Deauville yearling sale

A son of Machiavellian topped the three-day L'Agence Francaise Deauville October yearling sale when he landed a final bid of $81,563 from trainer Valerie Dissaux. The colt was consigned by Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard.The highest-priced filly of the sale was a daughter of Indian Ridge who was purchased by Francois Doumen for $70,688 from the consignment of Haras des Capucines.

Overall, a total of 348 yearlings were sold for gross receipts of $4,950,089, an average of $14,224.

"Our efforts of selection and promotion helped to attract a broad range of buyers and it is good to see that the vendors are very satisfied and that not only were French professionals very active but there were several new French buyers," said Philippe Augier, president of Agence Francaise.
