Record-priced yearling sold at Tattersalls

A record for the Tattersalls October yearling sale was set on Thursday when a daughter of Danehill brought a final bid of $720,194 during the morning session. Consigned by Roy and Belinda Strudwicke's Ballygallon Stud, the youngster was purchased by Charlie Gordon-Watson acting as agent for Coolmore Stud's John Magnier after a spirited bidding duel with John Ferguson.

Out of the winning Pleasant Tap mare Mythical Creek, the filly is from the family of 1981 champion grass mare De La Rose.

During the session, 80 yearlings changed hands for gross receipts of $8,142,749, an average of $101,784. The median price was $72,020.

Thursday's evening session is slated to begin at 5:15 p.m. local time. The five-day sale concludes on Saturday.
