Charnwood Forest colt tops first session at Tattersalls October sale

A son of European and English highweight Charnwood Forest (Ire) topped the first day of the Tattersalls October yearling sale when he landed a final bid of $94,251 in Newmarket on Tuesday.Consigned by Lynn Lodge Stud, the colt was purchased by John Ferguson acting for Mollers Racing. The youngster will be sent to Newmarket trainer Geoff Wragg.

The day's sale-topping yearling was produced by the winning Ela-Mana-Mou mare Archipova, a full sister to stakes-placed Abyaan and a half sister to stakes winner Sadlers Wings.

A total of 186 yearlings were sold for $4,255,924, an average of $22,880. The median price was $17,102.

The second day of the five-day sale begins on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. local time.
