Keeneland's inaugural October sale begins Monday

Keeneland will conduct its first-ever October yearling sale on Monday and Tuesday with sessions beginning each day at 10:30 a.m. EDT. A total of 644 youngsters have been cataloged. The sale was instituted to allow sellers a later opportunity to present their yearlings.

"The (Keeneland) September yearling sale has gotten so large that we thought it would be a good idea to give the consignors another chance to sell a horse as a yearling that maybe wasn't quite ready, had a setback, or maybe was a nice individual, but a little light in pedigree," said Geoffrey Russell, Keeneland's director of sales.

The September sale had 5,111 yearlings cataloged.

Sires represented in the October sale include Storm Cat, A.P Indy, Kingmambo, Pulpit, Seattle Slew, Skip Away, and Unbridled.

Among the offerings are half sisters champion Maria's Mon and to $2,381,762-earner Heritage of Gold.
