Broodmare tops Keeneland session at $145,000

Swiftly Classic, a four-year-old mare cataloged as in foal to multiple Grade 2 winner Old Trieste, attracted a bid of $145,000 to top the eighth day of the 11-day Keeneland November breeding stock sale on Monday.Consigned by Anderson Farms, agent for Sam-Son Farm, Swiftly Classic was purchased by Woodlynn Farm. Out of the stakes winning Afleet mare Swift Alliance, she is a half sister to stakes winners Sky Alliance and Classic Alliance.

Old Trieste's first foals are weanlings of 2001.

Keeneland reported sales on 220 horses for a total of $3,561,200, a plunge of 40.8% from last year's corresponding session when 261 horses were listed as sold for a total of $6,017,200. The average on Monday of $16,187, down 29.8% from last year's figure of $23,054 on the corresponding day. The median of $11,750 was down from last year's figure of $20,000.
