Casanova Star tops early returns at Keeneland

Casanova Star, a five-year-old son of A.P. Indy offered as a stallion prospect, landed a final bid of $92,000 to top the early returns during the eighth session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale on Monday in Lexington. Nord Thoroughbred Inc. secured Casanova Star, who won four of 12 career starts with two seconds and earned $117970. Consigned by Lane's End, agent, Casanova Star is out of Minstrella, by The Minstrel.

Casanova Star, who last started in mid-June at Belmont Park for trainer Mark Hennig, is a half brother to Grade 2 winner Colonial Minstrel, Grade 3 winner Minidar, and stakes winner Unrestrained. Minstrella was a champion two-year-old filly in Ireland and multiple Group 1 winner in Ireland and England.
