Fasig-Tipton Kentucky December mixed sale begins Monday
Fasig-Tipton Kentucky has cataloged 201 horses for its one-day December mixed sale that begins on Monday at noon EST at the Newtown Paddocks in Lexington.The sale features 110 broodmares, broodmare prospects, racing and broodmare prospects and stallion prospects and stallion shares; 61 weanlings; 16 weanlings; and 11 horses of racing age.
Broodmares scheduled to enter the sale's ring include the multiple stakes-winning Sky Classic mare Sky Tango, from the Millennium Farms Kentucky, agent, consignment, who is believed to be in foal to 1997 champion three-year-old male and Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Silver Charm.
Also among the offerings are mares believed to be in foal to Grade 1 winner Grand Slam and Canadian classic winner and 1998 Breeders Cup Classic (G1) winner Awesome Again, whose first foals will be two-year-olds next year.
At last year's Fasig-Tipton Kentucky December mixed sale, 297 horses were offered, with 197 being sold for total receipts of $1,182,400, which was down 40.2% from the 1999 sale. The sale's average last year was $6,002, down 34.8% from '99.
