Devil's Bag colt tops Washington sale
A yearling son of Devil's Bag attracted a final bid of $37,000 to top the Washington Thoroughbred Breeders Association winter mixed sale at Emerald Downs in Auburn on December 2. Out of the Greinton (GB) mare No Extra Charge, the colt was purchased by Bill Feeley from the Bella Bloodstock, agent, consignment. He is a half brother to stakes winner Melcapwalker and to stakes-placed Star of Elttaies.
The sales company reported sales on 236 horses from 298 offered for gross receipts of $908,200, a drop of 19.6% from last year when 257 of the 308 horses offered were sold for a total of $1,129,250. The average of $3,848 was down 12.4% from last year's figure of $4,394. The median was unchanged at $2,200.
