Half sister to Barathea tops Tattersalls session
Zibilene, a half sister to 1994 Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) winner Barathea (Ire), attracted a final bid of $2,239,004 (1,500,000 guineas) to top the third day of the four-day Tattersalls December mares sales in Newmarket on Wednesday.Barouche Stud purchased the four-year-old Rainbow Quest mare, who was cataloged as in foal to Machiavellian, from the consignment of Eydon Hall Farm.
In addition to Barathea, stakes-placed Zibilene, is a half sister to English Group 1 winner Gossamer, Grade 3 winner Free At Last (GB), and French Group 3 winner Zabar.
Tattersalls reported sales on 192 horses for gross receipts of $19,903,255 (13,334,000 guineas) and an average of $103,663 (69,448 guineas). The sale concludes on Thursday.
