Citidancer filly tops final Fasig-Tipton Midlantic session

A weanling daughter of Citidancer brought a final bid of $100,000 to top the second session of the two-day Fasig-Tipton Midlantic mixed sale in Timonium, Maryland on Monday. Consigned by Ltiz Bloodstock Services, agent, the filly was purchased by Baden "Buzz" Chace, agent.The filly is out of the stakes-winning Majestic Light mare Majestic Dream, who earned $72,978.

A total of 256 weanlings, yearlings, and horses of racing age were sold on Monday for gross receipts of $2,191,500 and an average of $8,561. The median was $3,650. Comparative figures for the session are not available because last year's sale was held during a three-day span.

Fasig-Tipton reported sales on 448 horses for gross receipts of $3,530,500, a drop of 18.2% from last year when 566 horses changed hands for $4,315,700. The average of $7,881 was up 3.4% from last year's figure of $7,625. The median was virtually unchanged at $3,200 compared to $3,100 in 2000.
