Inside Post Challenge returns for Triple Crown season

Posted: Friday, February 24, 2012 11:13 AM

The Inside Post Challenge, an interactive handicapping contest produced by the Eclipse Award-winning multimedia and editorial teams at Thoroughbred Times and available on the publication’s website, www.thoroughbredtimes.com, returns this winter and spring and contains all of the leading preps for this year’s Triple Crown. Contestants will again compete for a variety of prizes, including tickets to the 2012 Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park thanks to the support of Breeders’ Cup Ltd.

The Inside Post Challenge for this winter and spring will include 18 races and starts on February 25 with the Risen Star Stakes (G2) at Fair Grounds and February 26 with the Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park. Other races in the Inside Post Challenge include such prestigious events as the Kentucky Derby (G1), Preakness Stakes (G1), Florida Derby (G1), Wood Memorial Stakes (G1), Arkansas Derby (G1), Blue Grass Stakes (G1), and Santa Anita Derby (G1). The contest concludes with the Belmont Stakes (G1) on June 9 at Belmont Park.

Participants will be asked to select the winners of 18 stakes races leading up to and including the Belmont Stakes. Scoring for the seasonal contest is based on the official finish position of each race, with ten points earned for first, three points for second, and one point for third.

The individual who accumulates the most points over the 18 races will be awarded two tickets to both the Friday and Saturday programs at the 2012 Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park. The runner-up in the Inside Post Challenge will receive two tickets to Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup program. The third-place finisher will receive two tickets to Friday’s Breeders’ Cup program.

To help contestants follow the action leading up to the Breeders’ Cup, Thoroughbred Times launched its comprehensive Road to the Triple Crown website sponsored by Adequan on February 8, available at www.thoroughbredtimes.com, plus there will be video programs on the Thoroughbred Times website hosted by Times editors that preview and review all the major races for this winter and spring.

To sign up and view a complete list of the races in the Inside Post Challenge, visit www.thoroughbredtimes.com.
