Team Valor, Santulli purchase Uruguay champion Brujo de Olleros

VIDEO: Brujo de Olleros wins Gran Premio Pedro Pineyrua

Team Valor International and Richard Santulli, founder and former Chief Executive Officer of NetJets, have purchased Uruguayan champion miler Brujo de Olleros and will import him to the U.S.

The four-year-old son of Wild Event won three of four races during the 2011/2012 Southern Hemisphere racing season, including a track record-setting 14¼-length score in the Gran Premio Pedro Pineyrua to earn the country’s top miler honors. The Gran Premio Pedro Pineyrua was Brujo de Olleros’ most recent start on January 6.

In two seasons of racing, Brujo de Olleros has won four of five starts for earnings of $57,623. He was campaigned in Uruguay by owner Luiz Fernando Cirne Lima and trainer Ivo Pereira.

Brujo de Olleros is scheduled to be imported to the U.S. on February 20 and is expected to arrive at trainer Graham Motion’s barn at Palm Meadows Training Center on February 25.

"We are thrilled to be able to have a horse with such immense talent join our stable,” said Barry Irwin, chief executive officer of Team Valor. “[Team Valor chief operating officer] Bradley Weisbord was instrumental in bringing Richard Santulli aboard and I hope Mr. Santulli’s confidence in our outfit is rewarded. We hope to have the colt ready for the late summer renewal of the Grade 1 Forego Stakes at Saratoga."

Brujo de Olleros is out of winning Roy mare Hit Oil, a dam of five winners from as many to start, including Uruguayan Group 1 winner Alcorano.
