Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) winner Animal Kingdom continued preparations for his four-year-old debut with a five-furlong move on Wednesday at Palm Meadows Training Center.
Ridden by David Nava, the champion three-year-old male completed five furlongs on the turf course in :59.80, the fastest of eight breezes at the distance.
“That was a serious move,” trainer Graham Motion told Daily Racing Form. “He’s been going halves in :50 and change. He was in need of a serious work; he got a serious work today. He had to ask him to do it.”
Animal Kingdom is one of 271 horses nominated to the Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1) on March 31, which owner Team Valor International already has established as a goal. He is expected to make his seasonal debut on February 11 in the Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap (G1).

Hope Animal Kingdom and Royal Delta both run really well in whatever prep races in America their connections choose to run them in prior to heading to Dubai. I think both of them are legit contenders for the Dubai World Cup. If they both don't up getting horrible post position draws? Difficult to overcome a wide PP draw at Meydan on the tapeta main track.
