Three Chimneys Racing’s Miss Keller (Ire) burst through a narrow opening in the stretch and drove with authority to victory in the $291,286 Canadian Stakes (Can-G2), the first of three graded stakes on Sunday’s card at Woodbine.

Entering the stretch, jockey Javier Castellano guided Miss Keller between Points of Grace and Magic Broomstick as Latin Love (Ire) led the field of six. Given her cue after running through the hole, Miss Keller collared Latin Love and accelerated to a 1 3/4-length victory.

The four-year-old Montjeu (Ire) filly covered about 1 1/8 miles on good turf in 1:45.84 as the 8-to-5 favorite.

Miss Keller won or placed in her five previous starts this season, and finished third to Dynaslew in the Ballston Spa Handicap (G2) on August 28 at Saratoga Race Course prior to the Canadian.

Her sharp form continued as Castellano allowed the filly to settle in fourth as Grade 2 winner Points of Grace led through a half-mile in :48.33. Once Miss Keller advanced to second in early stretch, however, the result was never in doubt.

Latin Love, the 9-to-5 second wagering choice making her North American debut after winning a pair of stakes in Ireland, finished a credible second. She raced three- or four-wide the entire 1 1/8 miles but did not have enough energy to stay with Miss Keller. Magic Broomstick finished third followed by Points of Grace, the 2009 Sovereign Award winner as Canada’s champion turf female.

Trained by Roger Attfield, Miss Keller increased her earnings to $434,986 with her fifth win from 16 career starts. She is one of nine winners from 11 starters out of stakes-placed winner Ingozi, by Warning (GB).
