Majesticperfection sidelined with serious injury

Elite sprinter Majesticperfection’s career is in jeopardy after he was injured during a workout on the Oklahoma Training Track at Saratoga Race Course on Sunday morning.

Daily Racing Form reported Majesticperfection suffered a condylar fracture of the right front cannon bone and is slated for surgery to repair the injury at Saratoga Equine Veterinary Service in Saratoga Springs, New York.

“We’ll wait and see how the surgery goes and what the doctor’s take on it is after surgery," Sasha Sanan, racing manager for owner Padua Stables, told the Form. “It could be career-ending, not positive.”

The injury was detected Sunday after Majesticperfection breezed five furlongs in 1:02.02 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

The four-year-old Harlan’s Holiday colt began his career this season and skyrocketed to the top of the sprint division with five wins from six starts, including a 4 3/4-length romp in the Iowa Sprint Handicap in June at Prairie Meadows Racetrack and a dominant 2 3/4-length win in the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) on August 8 at Saratoga (video).

A $370,000 purchase by Padua Stables at the 2008 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring sale of two-year-olds in training, Majesticperfection is out of the Wavering Monarch mare Act So Noble.

"Obviously, very disappointing—devastating to be honest with you,” Satish Sanan, head of Padua Stables, told the Form. "We’ve been high on this horse since he won at Oaklawn [in April]. The Vanderbilt was a defining race for him; he showed what he could do at Saratoga.”

First Kantharos, now Majesticperfection. Same week, same barn. Maybe RA should be retired.

I hope Majesticperfection can get well, and hopefully, return to the track; if not, then a long and healthy and happy life in the breeding shed. I saw him in the Vanderbilt, and he was fantastic! This is such a sad story for such a promising colt!

Best Wishes and Prayers for Majesticperfection!!!

I think Steve Asmussen and J.Jackson need to go to confession or to the closest altar. These two have need to make some wrongs, right. I have never saw such bad luck coming from one barn in a long time.

Got your souls right, before its to late, you're losing horses by the day, Someone way up high is trying to tell you something.

Not a great week for that barn. Sprinters do not have the best careers. They seem to be more fragile due to their running style. I hope all works out for him.

Such a shame to lose another real talent at a time that they seem to be dropping like flies. Majesticperfection would've been virtually a lock to win the Breeders Cup Sprint(Dirt), IMO, with that blazing front running speed. With Majesticperfection now sidelined for what looks like quite sometime at a minimum. It looks like it will likely fall on the shoulders of Big Drama to carry the American torch forward in the Breeders Cup Sprint(Dirt). As Big Drama had just recently finished 2nd to Majesticperfection in the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Stakes. After having won the Smile Sprint Handicap at Calder.
