Queen of the Creek wins Riskaverse; Lisa’s Booby Trap non-factor

Posted: Thursday, September 02, 2010 7:32 PM

Queen of the Creek jetted out to a big lead and cruised to a 3 1/2-length victory in the $70,000 Riskaverse Stakes on Thursday at Saratoga Race Course.

Trained by Tom Proctor, the Theatrical (Ire) filly scored for a second straight start, both in front-running style. Queen of the Creek covered one mile on turf rated as firm in 1:33.94. Ultimate Class finished second, followed by Doe Run in third.

Much of the attention in the race focused on Lisa’s Booby Trap, owned and trained by Tim Snyder. Named for his late wife, Lisa’s Booby Trap made her turf debut after winning her first four career starts on dirt by a combined margin of 42 ¾ lengths.

The Drewman filly, ridden by Kent Desormeaux, never took to the grass, however, and finished a nonthreatening tenth as the 1.10-to-1 favorite.

Queen of the Creek was sent to the front early by Julien Leparoux and led the nine other three-year-old fillies through a quarter-mile in :23.58, a half-mile in :46.76, and six furlongs in 1:10.14.

Earlier in the card, Awesome Maria tracked the pace in second before surging to a half-length score as the 1.35-to-1 favorite in the first division of the Riskaverse.

The Maria’s Mon filly trained by Todd Pletcher completed one mile on firm turf in 1:35.06.

The trainer should go back to training his horse, and let cajun Kent go back to being a jock. Never listen to them jocks.
