Harvey Clark’s and Andrew Albstein’s Yankee Fourtune remained unbeaten on the season as he scored a front-running 2¼-length victory in the $150,000 Hawthorne Derby (G3) on Saturday on the turf at Hawthorne Race Course.

The three-year-old Yankee Gentleman colt picked up the first graded stakes victory of his career and extended his winning streak to four as he dictated the pace along the rail before drawing clear to the easy victory when roused by jockey Victor Santiago.

Trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, Yankee Fourtune entered off a 7 ½-length victory in a one-mile allowance race on September 6 at Saratoga Race Course. He completed the 1 1/8-mile Hawthorne Derby in 1:46.28 on firm turf as the even-money favorite.

Grade 2-placed stakes winner Mister Marti Gras made a late charge to finish second, a neck in front of multiple graded stakes-placed winner Asphalt.

Yankee Fourtune was unplaced in his only start as a two-year-old last September and took off the first half of 2010 before coming back to win his first three starts by a combined margin of 15½ lengths prior to the Hawthorne Derby.

Yankee Fourtune boosted his earnings to $168,980 with his fourth win from five starts. He is one of three winners from as many starters out of the unraced Mi Cielo mare Madam Ann.
