Amen Hallelujah will try for her third straight Grade 2 victory this season as she takes on five challengers in the $200,000 Bonnie Miss Stakes (G2) on Saturday at Gulfstream Park.
Trained by Richard Dutrow Jr. for IEAH Stables and Whizway Farms, the Montbrook filly enters the 1 1/8-mile race off a 1¾-length victory in the Santa Ynez Stakes (G2) on January 16 at Santa Anita Park and a 6¼-length romp in the Davona Dale Stakes (G2) on February 27 at Gulfstream.
The Bonnie Miss is one of four graded stakes on the Florida Derby (G1) undercard.
Amen Hallelujah was installed as the 8-to-5 morning-line favorite for the Bonnie Miss, but could be challenged by Christine Daae, who will make her stakes debut for owners Michael Imperio and Kona Stables.
The chestnut Giant’s Causeway filly was impressive in her 2010 debut, running away in a seven-furlong maiden special weight race by 8¾ lengths on January 15 at Gulfstream.
Trained by Patrick Biancone, she successfully stretched out to 1 1/8 miles on February 28, winning an allowance race by 2¾ lengths.
The field also includes Davona Dale runner-up Joanie’s Catch.
Grade 1-placed stakes winner Unrivaled Belle is the 2-to-1 morning-line favorite for the $150,000 Rampart Stakes (G3) for older fillies and mares.
The four-year-old Unbridled’s Song filly won the 1 1/16-mile Real Prize Stakes at Belmont Park last season before finishing second to Flashing in the Gazelle Stakes (G1) on November 28 at Aqueduct.
Trained by Bill Mott, Unrivaled Belle enters off a fourth-place finish in the La Canada Stakes (G2) on February 14 at Santa Anita Park.
Chiefswood Stable’s Aurora Lights, the 3-to-1 second choice on the morning line, finished third in the Stage Door Betty Handicap (G3) in her 2009 finale but rebounded to open the season with a 2¾-length victory in the Sabin Stakes (G3) on February 27.
Last year’s Florida Oaks (G3) winner Don’t Forget Gil enters off a 2½-length victory in the Wayward Lass Stakes on February 27 at Tampa Bay Downs.
Venezuela’s 2009 Horse of the Year Bambera (Ven), winner of that country’s filly Triple Crown, will make her North American debut after posting 13 wins from 14 starts last season.
Multiple Grade 3 winner Kiss the Kid and Grade 1 winner Rahy’s Attorney headline the $100,000 Appleton Stakes (G3) at 7½ furlongs on the turf, a race that Kiss the Kid won by a half-length last year for trainer Amy Tarrant.
