Champion two-year-old filly She Be Wild will try to bounce back from a disappointing 2010 debut when she takes on nine challengers in the $175,000 Florida Oaks (G3) on Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs.
The Offlee Wild filly won the Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) on November 6 at the Oak Tree at Santa Anita Park meeting and four of five starts on the season. She finished fifth in her sophomore debut in the Forward Gal Stakes (G2) on January 31 at Gulfstream Park for trainer Wayne Catalano.
She Be Wild was fourth entering the stretch of the Forward Gal but tired in the lane and finished 9½ lengths behind winner Bickersons.
Diva Delite enters the 1 1/16-mile race for three-year-old fillies on a four-race unbeaten streak, including each of her three starts this season.
Trained by David Vivian, the Repent filly opened her 2010 season with a victory in a seven-furlong starter allowance race on January 2 at Calder Race Course and then captured the Gasparilla Stakes on January 16 and the Suncoast Stakes on February 13, both at Tampa Bay Downs.
Edward P. Evans’ Imaginary Saint will try to reach the winner’s circle for the first time this season after back-to-back third-place finishes in a one-mile allowance race on January 6 at Gulfstream and the Suncoast Stakes.
Grade 1 winner Mushka headlines the $150,000 Hillsborough Stakes (G3) for older fillies and mares on the turf and, like She Be Wild, will be trying to put a disappointing 2010 debut behind her.
The five-year-old Empire Maker mare, who won the Juddmonte Spinster Stakes (G1) in October at Keeneland Race Course prior to a runner-up finish to Life Is Sweet in the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (G1) in November, enters off a fifth-place finish in the Santa Maria Handicap (G2) on February 13 at Santa Anita.
Tottie (GB) in unbeaten in her two North American starts for trainer Chad Brown since she was shipped to the U.S. from England last year.
The four-year-old Fantastic Light filly won a 1 1/16-mile allowance race on January 7 prior to capturing the Suwannee River Stakes (G3) on February 6, both at Gulfstream.
Canadian stakes winner Lady Shakespeare won four of six starts last season and finished in a dead heat for second in the Marshua’s River Stakes on January 16 in her 2010 debut.
