Unrivaled Belle, one of the top female horses in training without a Grade 1 victory, will try to take care of that detail on Sunday in the $250,000 Ruffian Invitational Handicap (G1) at Saratoga Race Course.

In her previous two starts, Unrivaled Belle has faced two of racing’s top females, securing a head victory over Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra on April 30 in the La Troienne Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs before finishing second to Life At Ten in the Ogden Phipps Handicap (G1) on June 12 at Belmont Park.

Since those respective races, Rachel Alexandra has posted back-to-back stakes victories while Life At Ten secured a thee-length victory in the $750,350 Delaware Handicap (G1).

Unrivaled Belle has placed in two Grade 1 races. Besides her runner-up finish in the Ogden Phipps, she finished second to Flashing in the Gazelle Stakes (G1) at Aqueduct to cap her 2009 season.

Also Sunday, the $150,000 Fourstardave Handicap (G2) has attracted a rather evenly matched field of ten horses three years old or older for the 1 1/16-mile turf race.

Trainer Patrick Biancone will send out a pair of starters in Grade 2 winner Nownownow and Violon Sacre, who enters off a victory in the Battlefield Stakes on July 10 on the Monmouth Park turf.

Nownownow will try to snap a five-race skid dating back to last year’s San Fernando Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita. The five-year-old Whywhywhy horse will be making his first start since a third-place finish to fellow Fourstardave entrant Wesley in a February 25 optional claiming race at Gulfstream Park.

Peter Karahalios’s Public Speaker enters off a runner-up finish to Tizdejavu in the Firecracker Handicap (G2) on July 4 at Churchill Downs and Grade 2 winner Whatsthescript (Ire) will make his second start of the season after finishing third to Violon Sacre in the Battlefield.
