Star Guitar, Superior Storm star at Delta Downs

Star Guitar continued his domination in Louisiana-bred stakes and extended his overall winning streak to six with a convincing victory as the 3-to-10 favorite in the $200,000 Louisiana Premier Night Championship Stakes on Saturday evening at Delta Downs (video).
The 1 1/16-mile race for older horses was the feature race on Delta's Premier Night card, which consisted of 11 races for Louisiana-breds with combined purses totaling $1,017,000. The stars of the night were Star Guitar and Superior Storm, both unbeaten in Louisiana-bred stakes.
Star Guitar improved to nine wins from as many starts in state-bred stakes races and won the Premier Night Championship Stakes for the second straight year.
The five-year-old Quiet American horse covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:45.71 on a track rated as fast to win by 3 1/2 lengths from Snug. He has not lost since finishing third to Bullsbay and Cool Coal Man in the Alysheba Stakes (G3) on May 1 at Churchill Downs.
Trained by Al Stall for owner and co-breeder Brittlyn Stable, Star Guitar improved to 12 wins and two thirds from 15 career starts and boosted his earnings to $828,458. Saturday’s victory was his tenth stakes score.
Superior Storm held off Seven Seventythree by a neck to win the $150,000 Premier Night Distaff Stakes (video). The five-year-old Stormy Atlantic mare completed one mile on a track rated as fast in 1:40.54 to win the race for the second straight year for owner Jac Mac Stable and trainer Richard Jackson.
Superior Storm also has amassed a perfect record in state-bred stakes with 12 victories from as many starts. She has won 15 of 23 career races and earned $951,498.
In other Premier Night action, John Charles overhauled Rail Ridge to win the $150,000 Premier Night Sprint Stakes by a half-length for a repeat victory in the race (video); Shezacrazygirl overwhelmed nine challengers with a three-length win as the 2-to-1 favorite in the $125,000 Premier Night Starlet Stakes (video); Flawless Gold coasted to a front-running 1 3/4-length victory in the $100,000 Premier Night Matron Stakes (video); and Redsugar led at every point of call for a 35.80-to-1 upset win in the $125,000 Premier Night Prince Stakes (video).
