McLaughlin looking at Stephen Foster for Asiatic Boy

Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin is considering the Stephen Foster Handicap (G1) on June 13 at Churchill Downs for one of his recent new arrivals from Dubai.

Asiatic Boy (Arg), the 2007 S & M al Naboodah Group United Arab Emirates Derby (UAE-G2) winner, breezed four furlongs in :47.80 on Wednesday at Belmont Park in his second published workout since arriving in the United States on April 23.

“He worked great this morning,” McLaughlin said. “We’re looking possibly at the Stephen Foster.”

Asiatic Boy won the Invasor Al Maktoum Challenge - Round 3 (UAE-G2) at Nad al Sheba Racecourse on March 5 for trainer Mike de Kock but was a disappointment in the Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1), finishing 12th. He ran a distant second to Curlin in the 2008 edition.

McLaughlin also received 2008 UAE Derby winner Honour Devil (Arg) from de Kock and owner Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa al Maktoum.

De Kock sent another colt, stakes winner Brave Tin Soldier, that he owns in a partnership.
