Musket Man fires bullet at Monmouth

Posted: Tuesday, May 12, 2009 3:30 PM

Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) third-place finisher Musket Man worked at Monmouth Park on Tuesday in preparation for Saturday’s Preakness Stakes (G1).

The Illinois Derby (G2) and Tampa Bay Derby (G3) winner worked four furlongs in :46.60 handily on a track rated as fast. It was the fastest of 23 timed works at the distance.

Trainer Derek Ryan previously said he plans to keep the Yonaguska colt stabled at the Oceanport, New Jersey, track for as long as possible before vanning him to Pimlico Race Course.
