IEAH purchases 50% interest in I Want Revenge

Posted: Monday, March 30, 2009 6:07 PM

IEAH Stables on Monday completed its purchase of a 50% interest in Gotham Stakes (G3) winner I Want Revenge from owner-breeder David Lanzman, bloodstock agent Nick Sallusto said.

Trained by Jeff Mullins, the three-year-old Stephen Got Even colt won the Gotham by 8 ½ lengths on March 7 in his first career start on a dirt track. The victory followed a third-place finish behind Pioneerof the Nile and Papa Clem in the Robert B. Lewis Stakes (G2) on February 7 on the synthetic Pro-Ride surface at Santa Anita Park.

I Want Revenge currently ranks 11th on the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) graded stakes earnings list with $324,000. He is fourth on the THOROUGHBRED TIMES Road to the Triple Crown poll.

"We’re thrilled to have such an enormous talent join our stable,” IEAH President Michael Iavarone said. “He appears to be improving at the right time and I’m looking forward to a great working relationship with the preexisting connections.

“We’re all appreciative of the hard work Nick put into making this deal come together.”

I Want Revenge will remain in training with Mullins and will prep at Hollywood Park for the $750,000 Wood Memorial Stakes (G1) on Saturday at Aqueduct. Jockey Joe Talamo, who was aboard for the colt’s Gotham triumph, will retain the mount.

"I'm thrilled about the partnership," Lanzman said. "I'm especially ecstatic to be where we're at because this is only the second horse I’ve ever bred out of my first broodmare."
