Bejarano out of intensive care

Jockey Rafael Bejarano was released from the intensive care unit at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California, on Friday and was moved to a private room according to Del Mar track physician John Agostino, M.D.

Bejarano underwent surgery earlier on Thursday for multiple facial injuries, including a broken jaw, cheek, and nose. Bejarano was injured in a spill on Wednesday at Del Mar when his mount, Mi Rey (Arg), broke down in the stretch.
