Yankee Injunuity surprises in Arlington Sprint

Encore Racing Stable’s Yankee Injunuity caught 6-to-5 favorite Chamberlain Bridge in deep stretch to post a neck victory in the $200,000 Arlington Sprint Handicap at Arlington Park on Saturday (video).

The five-year-old Yankee Victor horse, trained by James McMullen and ridden by jockey E. T. Baird, covered the 5½ furlongs in 1:02.50 on the firm turf course.

The Arlington Sprint is part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge “Win and You’re In” series. The win automatically qualifies Yankee Injunuity for a starting spot in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint to be run on November 7 at the Oak Tree at Santa Anita meeting.

Out of the stakes-placed winning Irish Open mare Honestly Honey, Yankee Injunuity increased his career earnings to $308,451 while posting his seventh victory from 30 starts.
