Loch Dubh seized command near midstretch and posted a two-length win in the $50,000 Turfway Prevue Stakes on Saturday at Turfway Park.

The 6 1/2-furlong race for three-year-olds serves as one of three prep races for the $500,000 Lane’s End Stakes (G2) on March 21 at the Florence, Kentucky, track.

Loch Dubh was positioned three wide at the start of the Turfway Prevue and raced in fourth through a half-mile in :45.40. After being angled out by jockey Victor Lebron, Loch Dubh moved up to second in early stretch, 1 1/2 lengths behind runner-up Back to Gold.

Unleashing a determined late run, Loch Dubh seized command and won his stakes debut in 1:16.72 on Turfway’s synthetic Polytrack surface.

Rudy Flyer set the pace as the 2-to-5 favorite in the nine-horse field and finished third, 3 1/2 lengths behind Back to Gold.

Jeff Talley trains Loch Dubh. The Friends Lake colt was claimed for $15,000 by trainer Mike Maker for owner Texas Toyco on November 14 at Churchill Downs.

Loch Dubh recorded his third win in six starts and increased his earnings to $52,876. Bred in Kentucky, the bay colt is one of two winners from as many starters out of the placed Caller I. D. mare Star Landing, a half sister to Grade 3 winner Epic Honor.
