Star Guitar stole the show with an encore-worthy performance on February 7 at Delta Downs, where the four-year-old Quiet American colt powered to a seven-length romp in the $200,000 Louisiana Premier Night Championship Stakes.
Sent off as the 9-to-10 favorite, Star Guitar improved to six wins in seven career starts and secured his fourth stakes victory.
Ridden by Robby Albarado, Star Guitar stalked the pace from sixth, within four lengths of pacesetter Star Production, through a half-mile in :46.21 in the 1 1/16-mile race for four-year-olds and older. Star Guitar accelerated to the lead on the far turn and opened a commanding lead in early stretch en route to an easy win in 1:46.20 on a track rated as fast.
Trained by Albert Stall Jr. for owner-breeder Brittlyn Stable, Star Guitar extended his winning streak to four and boosted his bankroll to $332,100.
The Championship Stakes was one of ten stakes of the Premier Night card worth a combined $1-million.
Jac Mac Stable’s Superior Storm won the $150,000 Premier Night Distaff Stakes by 1 3/4 lengths as the even-money favorite. Trained by Richard Jackson, the Stormy Atlantic filly completed one mile in 1:39.97 to improve to ten wins in 15 career starts.
