Sheikh Rashid buys Ready’s Echo

Posted: Wednesday, December 16, 2009 11:21 AM

Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed al Maktoum’s Zabeel Racing International has purchased Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) runner-up Ready’s Echo in a private deal with Let’s Go Stables.

Todd Pletcher will continue to train the four-year-old More Than Ready colt out of Menekineko, by Kingmambo. A purchase price was not announced.

Ready’s Echo has finished second or third in seven graded stakes races, including a third-place finish in the 2008 Belmont Stakes (G1). Furthest Land beat him by three-quarters of a length in the Dirt Mile on November 7 at Santa Anita Park.

“It goes without saying that we’re saddened to see our stable star leave the barn, but we’re elated with the overall deal, as well as the ability to close out our first fund with over a 100% [return on investment],” said Bryan Sullivan, who manages the Let’s Go partnership with his brother-in-law, Kevin Scatuorchio.

Sheikh Rashid, the son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, plans to start Ready’s Echo in one of the races on the first-ever Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1) card at Meydan Racecourse on March 27. He and Pletcher teamed to win the Princess Rooney Handicap (G1) and three other graded stakes this year with Game Face.
