Peter Pan Stakes (G2) winner Casino Drive arrived in Southern California from Japan on Wednesday with the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) on his agenda.
Rick Hammerle, Santa Anita Park’s racing secretary, said the Mineshaft colt would go into quarantine at Hollywood Park before moving over to Santa Anita, where his connections hope to use a 1 1/16-mile optional/claiming race on October 12 as a prep for the Classic.
Casino Drive has raced only twice, winning a 1 1/8-mile maiden race in February at Kyoto racecourse and the Peter Pan by 5 3/4 lengths on May 10 at Belmont Park. He was scratched from the Belmont Stakes (G1) on June 7 at Belmont after developing a foot bruise.
Kazuo Fujisawa trains the half brother to Belmont winners Jazil and Rags to Riches for owner Hidetoshi Yamamoto.
