Brazilian Group 1 winner Cruzada Americana to join Motion’s barn

Brazilian Group 1 winner Cruzada Americana will race in the United States for the partnership of Brazilian owner Daniel Young's Stud Raca and an undisclosed Hong Kong interest.

“Cruzada Americana was acquired by a Hong Kong-based owner, which did not want the disclosure of his name, and at this time she will be sent to Graham Motion’s barn,” said Brazilian-based agent Alberto Figuereido Neto, who brokered the deal.

Bred in Brazil by Mario Moglia’s Haras Fronteira, breeder of 2004 Brazilian Horse of the Year and three-time Grade 1 winner Pico Central (Brz), the Nedawi filly capped off an unbeaten juvenile season with a win in the 1,500-meter (7.45-furlong) Grande Premio Joao Cecilio Ferraz (Brz-G1) on April 28, 2007, at Sao Paulo’s Jockey Club Cidade Jardim racecourse.

Trained in Brazil by Marcos Campos, Cruzada Americana also won the Presidente Guilherme Ellis (Brz-G2) at two and placed in both of her starts as a three-year-old in Brazil.

Cruzada Americana is out of the Group 3-winning Itajara mare Spring Princess.
