Jockey Walcott reaches milestone

Jockey Rickey Walcott earned his 1,000th career win on Sunday as P S Kin stalked the pace, launched a three-wide rally in the stretch, and closed willingly to win by a nose in the third race at Northlands Park.

Walcott ranks second at Northlands with 62 wins through Sunday. His mounts have earned $971,942 in 340 starts at the Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, track.

During his nine-year riding career, Walcott has won a pair of graded stakes races among 54 stakes wins. He rode Raylene to wins in the Canadian Derby (Can-G3) and British Columbia Breeders’ Cup Oaks (Can-G3) in 2003.

Walcott won two more races later on Sunday’s card.
